Call that £y. The odds are that £x is almost as much as if not more than £y. In other words, it costs as much to live as you can readily earn! Then – and this is the cunning part – consider how Wwoofing, by providing you with full board and lodging, thus saving you a large part of £x, actually ‘pays’ as much as if not more than full time employment.
How’s that for lateral thinking?

This is an interesting one, near Whitianga. It seems it’s a backpackers hostel, and I’m not sure how you get to be a willing worker, but it might be an agreable place to spend a few days.
