Goan

We’ve found an agreable lodging place at two quid a night with a verandah on the first floor overlooking a small square so we can spend plenty of time watching the world drift pass as we scoop dribbling chunks of juicy papaya into our gaping maws. Vaddy beach is just down the road and the beach shacks go on for miles in each direction. We got seriously blasted by the sun on our first day, but apart from that are settling in nicely. My favourite thing to do is rent a bike and just pedal in any direction. Within minutes rural Goa manifests itself with wonderful backyard scenes of water boiling in large ceramic pots on wood fires, families of pigs rootling amongst the rubbish and sad eyed water buffalo chewing the cud. We’re currently in Margoa, buying fruit. The bus here had five foot headroom, which was a pain to stand up in. Word is that Palolam is now ovecrowded and overpriced. We’ll see,. I just stopped at a jeweller’s shop to listen to the cricket and was told that England were sliding to almost certain defeat.

Thanks!

Ready about beginning of august-just enought time to get Unc Jul to change a few nappies before he goes travelling 🙂

have you seen the golden ball yet? all white and serene inside if i remember rightly. Hampi is worth a visit-I liked it there. Say hi to Mama and Dod if you spot them in Goa.

Hey Tan! I heard your news a while ago and since you appear to be using Livster.net I thought I should say congrats from us both. How long till the bun in the oven is ready? As it were. Looking forward to meeting him/her when we get back!

Goa!

Hail all! Long time no blog. I was under the seemingly wrong impression that i could not use the internet at work but having seen someone next to me shopping for red stilletos on e-bay I thought i would give it another try! I hav’t read all the back logs bu have read a few of s and s in inda-sound like they are having a fun time. A few to many ashrams and dhanting for my liking but each to their own.

I got a text from Dod and Mama today (their evening) thay had just arrived in Benaulem-a pleasent spot to start one’s journey of south Goa. Dod seem alittle shoked at the higher than had been expected prices but i just reckon he hasnt got pliskins crust of a rhino when it comes to haggling for cheaper accomodation-send mama in i say.

Mango’s in season he says, though so are the mossies!

Well, everyone else look a but busy so i’d better go and translate some medical reports. Begining to feel a bit fat now-have trouble bending over to put shoes on!

The surf

The surf here in Kovalam is very good. Too good in fact to surf or indeed swim with added rip tides to ensure certain drowning.

AT the time of the Varanasi bombings we were as far away from the bombings as it’s possible to be in India – being on the southern tip itself. Both safe and well.

We are in Kerala and having gone down the eastern coast we are now heading up the western coast towards… Goa! So Nicky and Michelle don’t be too surprised if you get a tap on the shoulder from a familiar face or two. But we won’t be there for at least two weeks possibly 4 or even 6.

quality surf

Last Saturday, pliskin and I caught some quality surf at the witterings, with almost 2ft of wave! OK, so 2ft doesn’t sound too amazing but it was great to be able to surf 10 mins away from the house. Both of us, utterly resplendent in our neoprene coverings that left only a small amount of face uncovered – warding off the coldest sea temperatures of the year, found ourselves to be a little lacking in arm strength required and vowed to do some exercises.

The forecast is looking good for this weekend too.

On the footy front, we both played for SV on sunday for the first time in a while. We played terribly, needless to say, losing to la sports by three goals. Crappy defence was to blame really, not the keeper. It seems doubtful that we’ll get anywhere near promotion with this form!

I’ve always supported any English teams in Europe, even the scum themselves, Man U, but yesterday I found myself rooting for barca and cheering when they scored – such is my loathing of Mourinho. Eto’o and Ronaldinho both played well and made some of chelsea’s players look ordinary.

Pinkie and I nailed the Cha Cha Cha last night and made some good progress with the tango. Bring on the Rumba next week!

Hopefully T and S weren’t anywhere near the bombs in india and haven’t encountered any further aggressive monkeys.

Decoy out.
