Having cut all the individual ‘trees’ down, I’m left with a block of fused together trunk wood with the consistency of smelt iron.

    Bet it smelt lovely. Can we have some of the dried bay leaves please for cooking?
    Btw, what’s gonna happen about christmas trees this year?! 😉

    There’s plenty of bay left – for leaves and Christmas trees. Everything cut down got ground up and strewn around the garden. It did smell good, along with the eucalyptus I ground up at the same time.
