rat trap

Back at the homestead, things continue as normal. The low setting of the radiators has virtually no effect on the icey chill round the house, but thankfully the good old fire in the sitting room is great, providing all the heat one needs as long as one doesn’t need to venture elsewhere in the house. Have purchased additional garlic pills to ward off lurgys.

The wire rat-trap has trapped a small crow the last couple of days so i’ve disabled it.

I made myself an administrator on the at forums and deleted one abusing post and banned it’s poster. He claimed to be the “real” dodman and professed some opinions about dodman. Not suer why he was posting on an alexander technique forum though!

quality surf

Last Saturday, pliskin and I caught some quality surf at the witterings, with almost 2ft of wave! OK, so 2ft doesn’t sound too amazing but it was great to be able to surf 10 mins away from the house. Both of us, utterly resplendent in our neoprene coverings that left only a small amount of face uncovered – warding off the coldest sea temperatures of the year, found ourselves to be a little lacking in arm strength required and vowed to do some exercises.

The forecast is looking good for this weekend too.

On the footy front, we both played for SV on sunday for the first time in a while. We played terribly, needless to say, losing to la sports by three goals. Crappy defence was to blame really, not the keeper. It seems doubtful that we’ll get anywhere near promotion with this form!

I’ve always supported any English teams in Europe, even the scum themselves, Man U, but yesterday I found myself rooting for barca and cheering when they scored – such is my loathing of Mourinho. Eto’o and Ronaldinho both played well and made some of chelsea’s players look ordinary.

Pinkie and I nailed the Cha Cha Cha last night and made some good progress with the tango. Bring on the Rumba next week!

Hopefully T and S weren’t anywhere near the bombs in india and haven’t encountered any further aggressive monkeys.

Decoy out.

Concerning H

Oddly enough, steps not being foremost in my mind, H is purely short for Hannah. And I think that Hannah was annoyed at being compared with a cretin rather than professing no knowledge of steps!

Anyway, I notice that England performed pretty badly today in the cricket… are you planning to see any of the games? They could probably do with a bit of support!

regarding monkeys

I suppose the monkeys are acustomed to travellers having loads of goodies in their bags. Hope Sasha is still ok.

The ever-looming prospect of bird flu is concerning me at the moment as it seems that the fogies are off to goa just before the chickens have to be slaughtered by decree of parliament, leaving the task to myself and H. Thankfully H is willing to snap their necks if I hold them!

No footy this week, which makes three whole weekends without exercise. Well, apart from some walking in Cornwall and a jolly game of golf today with solid and his friend Chris. We played a form of matchplay, where the winner of a hole gets 2 points and second gets 1 and last 0. We thought if might make things more interesting and competative but I’m not really sure it did!

The Dodman

H and I spent this weekend in Cornwall, staying at a place called “Broom Parc”. Broom Parc was very close to the coast; in fact, right outside the back door was the clifftop coastal walk which goes round most of the cornish coast.

On the first morning, we strode out, heading eastwards along the precarious path towards the highest coastal point in those parts, “The Dodman”. However, it was pretty hard work and we soon realised we wouldn’t have enough light to make it back so we cut the trip short. So we drove to it on the way home and found it fairly spectacular. Will post some photos at some point.
We also visited the Eden project which was pretty good, but rather pricy at £12.50 per adult.

One notable sighting, was that of a dead dolphin that washed up on the beach as we were having lunch – it had been fairly mangled by rocks and soforth, but didn’t have any noticable bite marks, so we’re not sure how it died.

Our food cost a little more than 10 pounds between us, but it is a small price to pay when considering the rather small chance of catching malaria and/or leprosy whilst in cornwall!
