Toenail

Maza has suggested my large toenail is not as sightly as it used to me. She claims the curvature has changed due to thickening. It looks perfectly okay to me, if slightly discoloured:

I’m going to start applying Hydrogen Peroxide daily, so this mild discolouration doesn’t spread to my other toes:

Hopefully, I’ll be back in her favour shortly.

Cool Britannia

Financial Times: Do you want to start by paying tribute to Michael Jackson, Peter? Everyone else seems to be doing that.

Peter Mandelson: I’m not absolutely sure who Michael Jackson is.

  1. I assume you mention this not to show the immense ignorance of Lord Mandy (being in a group of one) but rather to voice your agreement with Peter that Michael Jackson was an irrelevance in your life who can be easily brushed aside?

    1. It was more a comment on New Labour. As Noel Gallagher said, for him the disillusionment was like finding out Father Christmas didn’t exist.

  2. possibly expressing amusement at the extraordinary media u turn that has taken place or how everyone suddenly feels the need to glorify someone, who was so recently vilified, just because he has died. personally, im looking forward to the Michael Jackson memorial plates soon to be featured in private eye. (don’t wash as the paint may flake off revealing Jade goody/Princess Di etc….)

    1. Oddly enough, the latest issue of Private Eye arrived today. On page 22, Gnome Souvenirs are indeed offering the “Michael Jackson Memorial Plate”. The usual warning is given against washing or exposing to strong light, but this time, not because the image of someone else might be found underneath, but because “there is a possibility that the singer’s face could turn black”.

Midsummer

Another lovely, sunny, still day in Barnham. No photos of the happy hens or the abundant roses or the Philadelphia blossom as my camera is bust; so here’s one of a Paratha, such as we ate at the Monsoon Restaurant in Billlngshurst, as guests of the new residents of that town.

Leaf card

Mama made this card for Liv and Hannah’s new house out of a large leaf that had been used to wrap the rectangle of bean paste given her by Jul.

It was an amazingly neat package, daintily tied with ribbon; and I think the leaf deserves its third incarnation.

  1. I keep trying to insert a video; but it doesn’t show up.

    1. send me the link and i’ll have a go

  2. No link – the video was mine – I uploaded it into my ‘gallery’.

    1. unfortunately the blog isn’t as sophisticated as youtube or picasa, so you can’t upload and embed videos.

  3. looks like some tasty eats:-D

  4. good stuff! glad to see the bowls in use! 🙂

  5. The bowls are being used every time we eat anything that chop sticks can handle. We don’t seem to be able to stick to the one bowl only part, though.
