The guidebook I consulted about Bali said avoid renting any motorised vehicle (2 or 4 wheels) on account of appalling local drivers, crappy upkeep, fake insurance, and corrupt local traffic police who sting you for vast fines for no reason.

nestling in the guest house at the mo watching the torent or rain flying of the roof!! It is really the rainy seasoin now, and the rain is just a solid sheet. You can;’t see more than two feet infront of you, and you wouldn’t have to go out for more than a nano second to be drenched. pleasent beach weather we thought!!!!! Geoff also wanted to hire some harley davison lookalike today… Mayhaps in bali!

Being barhams aswer to the village idiot, me thinkest that a platoon of highly trained guards (geoff) should be sent forth width to meet you, and perhaps even help you of the plane!!

WEll, we are of to do a spot of ‘singing in the rain’ as there is precious little else to do as the beach is a no go area!!

last night we went to the world famous napier solstice fire festival on the green near our hostel. much fun, involving such delights such as a opera singing comedian who presented the show, a fire pod from a hot air balloon, flaming poys(fire chians wirled about the head.) a rather jolly rock band called double scotch who had the novel idea of encorperating bagpipes into a rock band. music was a bit crap but it was fun seeing them prancing about in there kilts and playing on a set of electric bagpipes of all bizzare things. the was also some cook island drummers, and some hot salsa dancing which i think mama would have enjoyed, many prancing and chest jutting blokes with oiled hair frolicking with dusky snake impresionists. then there fire works, quite impressive really, and a massive bonfire which we sat around until late. good stuff.

Hi Luu!

WEll, in Krabi, on the beach at the moemtn. Thinking it was a pleasent litle beach with bamboo huts. we wew not a little astonished to roll up in the pick up and find manya posh shop along the paved sea front (looking like a boulavade in france) and a macd’s as well!!!!

Found a nice place to stay though and will explore today.

Still the first is it Jul??? Not long to go yet. We don’t terust you on your own in singapore so one or both of us will come to meret you at da airport, and either stay in singapore or head back into malaysia for a couple of days.

Liv – whats all this lose talk about sleevless t-shiorts???? Lokks like a vest to me!! Ansd whats with all this manic exercise? Geoff should start to do some as those three musculs Jul talked about are turning a little podgy!!!

Thanks for the mail about the air baloon mama!! We would have stayed longer in phanang, but were running out of time!!
We are going to go to Kota Bharu and the national park in malaysia, but will see what time we have left after that. There si a notice up on the wall for feb just gone for volunteers for sailing to malaysia!! That would have been great fun, but the ship sailed a few months ago.

Well, thats all form me for now. Am of to buy a couple of presentable things to wear in this posh hotel in bali!!!! All my top are thredbear now, but i’m ok for bottoims as i got dsome shorts and a skirt made in Hoi An.

hail. i picked up bonfire of the vanities from some random place in south island, what seems like years ago. but i left it by mistake. most annoying as it looked good. did the the pat on the back feel as good as a crisp fiver? that is the question!
