Dod is merely 2-1 up in a 5 setter. plenty of opportunity for a comeback! I was having to ease off a tad because Dod was fairly short of breath and seemed on the verge of a heart attack.

Car hunting

That’s why I was eventually driven to buying a wreck at an auction, spurred on by you!!!!!

It was God’s luck that a few days later, on getting out of bed and glancing through the window, in a state of great despair, I saw a couple of travellers with a For Sale sign on their car heading off to the auction, and I was able to rush out and secure it for a nominal sum.

Luck comes into it and it may be you’ll have better luck out of Auckland. Take it as it comes.

Granny sent me a press cutting of some tavellers in NZ who hired a car for three weeks. Around £10 a day, I think. It might be cheaper than three people getting the bus.

Enjoy Nusa. Keep your phone topped up, Jul. Concerning Simon and Garfunkel; Mama was practically weaned on them; I beieve I have their Greatest Hits CD, inherited from Grandpa, somewhere in my extensive collection, which I hereby pass on to you.

I played tennis yesterday for the first time since the winter months, against the James College champion. Conditions were poor; a freakish wind and crappy ball bounce; so, naturally, I prevailed, with my superior ‘luck’. Having defeated Liv at crud the preceeding day, only, according to him, on account of the number of dubious ‘chance’ shots I enjoyed, we had a brief discussion about the way luck works.

I claimed it all evened out in the end; and that everyone eventually got their fair share of both good and bad breaks. He said nay, that was not the way it worked, and proceeded to explain why. He’s probably right; but I couldn’t understand his explanation; so there we left it.

This morning, I woke up feeling as though I had been snapped in twain. My hip bones are on fire and the universal joint in my lower back has seized up. I clearly overdid it yesterday, because after the tennis, I played Jacques at crud, and came close to collapsing from the strain.

hail. going to nusa lembongan tomorrow. may be my last blog for a while as the island only has elctricity between the hours of 9 pm to 5 am. i don’t think there is much in the way of internet. our book is two years old and may be wrong though.

forgot to mention tan, annika carries her small bag everywere and says that it is most usefull and top notch.

dod: i also forgot to mention the epicness that is music of Simon and garfunkle. the song “the sound of silence” is rather superb and i am sure you will enjoy it.

clearly both dod and liv require some sort of press up routine or some other form of exersize, lest there stomac muscle disapear completely.

cor blimey this car hunting lark is foul. all the contac numbers are mobiles which charge you a dollar just for typing in the number, and no one has answered their phone yet, so we have eaither left messages or else bellowed acurse and put the phone down quick speed before it swallowed any more of our money. we have spent a small fortune on phomne cards and have got nowhere really. we saw the yellow van again and were not so taken with it this time. It was not big enough for geoff basicall, and a little on the tinny side. Also, even if we do find a car, we can’t do anything about it until monday to change ownership and wot not. all in all a pain in the butt, and wot on earth is wrong with the good old bus i would like to know? Oh well, the surch continues. we went to a couple of car markets today, and the one had asian blokes galor who looked rather dodgy, and were trying to palm of wrecks, and the other had nothing there but a couple of delapidated vans. Most disheartening i say. well, of for a sopt more hunting and useless phoning.

those ridiculous blue shorts of Dod’s are the most festering things i have ever seen. He only wears them in the garden – thank god! – and he claims they allow an all over tan. pest!
