yes, well I lost a similar amount to jul, though my choices weren’t quite so crippled. A couple of times I placed a bet early to get good odds, then the horse revealed itself to be fairly mangy and decrepid when I saw it paraded round the paddock.

As it has been mentioned, great fun was had by all.

It was my 24th birthday yesterday and I recieved many quality pressies:-D

Having got up at 4.30 in the morn – scrapped up would be a better word! we then wasted precious minuted wrestling with crip computer to try and print out the directions, but i ended up having to write them out by hand. We made our get away at 5.45 – still dark! Journey uneventfull but tedious, and we made it in time to get ready for livs lunch. He managed to complet my classy and highly exiting pressie from nz in a couple of go’s curse it!. The racing was fun if you like lobbing your hard earnt cash at the money grabbing bookies. I tries the randome luck tecnique. This resulted in me backing a mangy bunch of donkeys who seemed to find it stressfull breaking into a jog. A couple were led of having come down with some sort of pox, curse them, and my one exiting moment of the day was lost by a nose!!! A mugs game, but fun non the less, even though i was about 14 pounds down. James was 25 up having kept all inside info to himself and won twice!! A pleasent lunchings and tea and early to bed to recouperate.

14 quid down the drain! its outragous. utilising the celerbrated svengali betting teknique of extrapilation the winner, by the quality of name coupled with the choice of colours and decided upon with various roles of the die, i not only failed to win, but managed to back every sort of mindless crippled horse that the day provided. in one race i bet on two horses, which acording to my “decision” dice would not only win but get some sort of record for the course. one decided early on in the race that it liked the view from behind, and that going any faster than a snail’s pace would be unwise. it finnished so far behind the others, i imagine it would have been faster if the jockey had got of and walked. the other which i pinned my hopes on had some sort of fit in the second lap, and was led away, to be put down i hope, the cursed beast!

any way a fun day was had by all.

Tan and Geoff arived back from op North; and James and Louise came for the day.

Basically, it’s a mug’s game, shovelling your money in the direction of the bookies. Betting on rank outsiders at long odds means your horse runs out of steam early on in the race and the result is less interesting than backing a favourite and being in with a chance right up to the nail.

I placed four bets, all of whom came last or failed to finish. Mama saved the day with a classy choice in the last but one race that left us only a few quid down overall.

Biting cold wind; but all in all, a great day at the races.

Sensational lunch and tea.

hail all,

Geoff has gone of to the football and i am relaxing with Loo. Looking forward to the huge drive in the early hours of tomorrow!!! Ringing all these places for crip at the mo – he seems to have left it a bit late as they are all booked for that weekend1 Oh well,
see youa l on the morrow,

There were four of us. Jacques and I played together first. It was dire. We kept missing the shuttlecock completely, and lurched around the court in a daze. We lost 15-2! I’m sure Tom and Liv, who were electric by comparison, thought their evening was made. Then, midway through the second game, we got out collective eye in and won, just. The third game we won relatively easily. Then, we switched partners and Liv and I trounced Jacques and Tom. Liv was surprisingly good. I got about six winners off the wood of my antique racquet, justifying it as my weapon of choice.
