golf

Slightly and I had a fairly epic game of golf today. Proper golf. None of this pitch-and-putt nonsense, a real par 70 course. We even had to borrow golf shoes and wear smart clothing!
Deciding to do 9 holes, we were just about to tee off when some old biddy yodeled at us and explained that we were at the women’s tees and demanded that we use the men’s. We attempted to explain that we were, in fact, crap, but she had none of it. These women were highly annoying as they were behind us throughout the course, telling us we were out of bounds and nearly hitting us several times with their shots.
Under the beady eyes of these women, we took nine shots on the first hole. only four over par! Still, we improved and finished the 9 holes in 54 shots each (par was 35). This kinda works out as 2 extra shots a hole, so we have a handicap of 36ish…
On several occasions we achieved “bogey” and a couple of times i nearly got a par!

King Rat

this is possibly the worst review I have ever read. It’s a review of King Rat by China Mieville and suggests that it is very much like American Gods and Neverwhere (both by Neil Gaiman). Mayhaps it’s worth getting out of the library.

I don’t like the fact that i havn’t got a face. Back in the homestead I’ve slipped in almost unoticed I’m so quiet and unasuming!! Nice to nestle back into the comfy groove with regular glugs and bouts with Mama about how to place the spoons in the spoon holder – rafreshing! Apart from the small issue of me having the small dank bedroom all’s well.
Just settled in and then got talked into going up north – I blame dod myself. Oh well, was going up to see granny at some point anyway, and this way i get to paint a huge warehouse! Much fun will be had by all. After all this exitment it’s ho back for the racing on Liv’s Birthday.
Get me a face.

yes indeedy, a top hole film. quite similer in some respects to ghost world, which contains the same actress. ghost world was also rather good.

cold mountain was acceptable, though fairly crap to begin with it got pretty good towards the end.

right.

Lost in Translation

Thought someone should blog something…

Solid and I saw Lost in Translation the other day. It was a bit of a strange film – one of those where not much actually happens but what does happens is very well done. Lots of periods of silence interspersed with quirky, observational humour mainly targeting the strangeness of japan when looked at through a westerners eyes. Bill Murray and Scarlette Johansson were good, and played the parts of tired actor and bored wife pretty well. Beautiful photography too.

In related news, the star wars trilogy (ie. 4 5 and 6) is being release on DVD. Yay:-)
